“June is shaping up to be an exciting month for Horowhenua.

On Wednesday, June 12, we’re pleased to host Local Government Minister and Revenue Minister Simon Watts for a business luncheon at Tatum Park.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a cabinet minister about the government’s priorities and how they might influence regions like ours. Seats are limited, so please get in touch with The Horowhenua Company (THCL) team if you’d like to attend – tickets are moving quickly. See link below for tickets.
In other exciting news, the Health Hub on Durham Street has reached a major construction milestone with the installation of the roof.
During a recent site walk-through with THCL board directors and HNZ Trust board member Ron Turk, it was clear just how transformative this facility will be. Bringing together GPs, radiology, pharmacy, and other healthcare services under one roof, this development will make it easier for our community to access care, and reflects our region’s commitment to modern, integrated health infrastructure.
We’re also continuing to support businesses as the Ō2NL roading project progresses toward delivery. A town hallstyle meeting is coming up between the North and South Commercial Alliance leads and NZTA, facilitated by THCL.
This session is part of our broader Tender Readiness programme, which helps local businesses position themselves to take part in large-scale infrastructure projects. If you haven’t registered, it’s not too late – please contact our team.
I’d also like to extend a warm invitation to our monthly Business After 5 (BA5) networking events, held in the third week of every month. These events offer a great way to connect with fellow business owners, hear from keynote speakers, and learn more about regional activity. You can subscribe to our newsletter via the THCL website to stay up to date on upcoming speakers and venues.
Lastly, we’ve recently presented our Draft Economic Development Strategy to Horowhenua District Council for consultation. This strategy aims to shape the future direction of economic, business and community growth in our region. We welcome your feedback. If there’s a specific opportunity, challenge, or idea you’d like reflected in the plan, reach out via our website. Community input is vital to building a strategy that reflects who we are and where we want to go.
Let’s continue building momentum together.”
